Newton is a small town south east of hickory and north west of Charlotte . It has a close knit community consisiting of about 13,000 people. Newton has many activities throughout the year to get the entire family involved such as Newtonfest in the spring,Old Soldiers Reunion during the mid summer, and the Christmas parade in the late fall. Newton has an ample supply of churches,shopping,and culture(theatre and museums) to keep you busy. Newton also has a good selection of private schools,public schools. The above is a picture of the old Catawba County Courthouse. The area around the courthouse known as "the square" is the site for many of the community functions listed above. It is now a location for a county museum that centers around some of the military history and farming history of this region.
